IT'S ALL ABOUT THE MIX! – MIXED-BREED DOG DAY
The four-legged VEGDOG team consists largely of mixed breed dogs. And each one is particularly lovable in their own way. We dedicate this blog post on today's Mixed Breed Dog Day not only to them, but also to all the other unique mixed breed dogs.

As far back as I can remember, I have always had mixed breed dogs in my life. I remember them being beautiful animals with lovely characters.
Since dog owners take responsibility for a living being and give it a place in their lives (and hearts), characteristics such as character and health should always come first and not breed and appearance.
As responsible owners, we have the opportunity to make a conscious decision regarding origin and breed, which should always be carefully considered.
For many mixed breed owners, animal welfare is the strongest argument for adoption . That is certainly the case for me and the rest of the VEGDOG team. We do not want to support commercial breeding because there are too many animals without a family who want nothing more than a home, a family, regular meals, care when sick and a hand to stroke. There are breeders for whom appearance and profit play a greater role than animal welfare . Cruel breeding is a key word here - missing tails make communication difficult, noses that are too short make breathing difficult, certain colors promote blindness or deafness. Adopting an animal therefore does not just mean taking in a unique family member. It also means giving an animal a home, a second chance. And they feel that and express their gratitude for it at every opportunity.
One mixed breed dog is rarely like another. At least I have never seen a dog that looked like my Negrutu. There is much more diversity among mixed breed dogs and there are some really crazy, unique mixes that are created mainly on the street. But that is exactly what is exciting and fascinating. Colorful, funny, diverse individuals - who of course should also be healthy!
I will always choose to take in a mixed breed from an animal shelter. And puzzling over what the four-legged friend might be is fun. You are constantly discovering new things that point to a different origin.
Personally, I find it more exciting to adopt an animal that does not have to meet any requirements in terms of genes, appearance, character, etc., which also determines its nature.
And if you want to know what is actually hidden inside the four-legged friend: breed tests are one way to find out. There are sure to be some surprises waiting for you here.
But be careful: the accuracy of the result is only about 80%. The risk of inaccuracy is particularly high with mixed breeds, where many breeds are mixed. So our mixed breeds always remain a little mysterious.
