Our dry food is not only practical, but also lasts longer. However, correct storage is also very important here. As soon as you open a bag of our Green Crunch or Farmers Crunch, you should transfer the contents into airtight and light-tight packaging. Various boxes are available for this.
Another important point when storing dog food is the best-before date. After this date, we cannot guarantee the quality of the food, especially in terms of vitamin content. However, you can compare the food with your own food here. Even after the best-before date has passed, you can simply carry out a freshness check and rely on your senses. If the food looks normal, has a normal consistency and does not smell unusual, you can usually feed it to your dog without any concerns.
An often overlooked danger when storing dog food is the infestation of moths and food mites. These pests can nest in the food if it is not stored properly. Therefore, it is important to store the food in airtight containers to keep out unwanted visitors and protect your dog. It is worth mentioning that food mite infestation is only possible after the package has been opened.
A common misconception is that freezing food that is infested with mites reduces the risk of allergies. In fact, the mites die, but the mite allergen remains. This means that dogs with a food mite allergy are still at risk. A peanut allergy in humans would be comparable. Frozen peanuts trigger the same symptoms in allergy sufferers as fresh peanuts. To avoid problems, you should therefore focus on correct storage as a preventative measure.
